Ah the Elf Trials, the most wholesome and hillariously chaotic pop-up game we have ever created. When it launched last year for a limited run, there were 30 gold stars, which you could get by solving puzzles, scouring the room, or completing tasks assigned by the ridiculously lovable "Mince".
The aim was not to get every star, that was impossible (or so we thought) but about getting as many as possible while having a fun and festive time! We had families looking for a cheaper activity, we had friends looking to make memories, we had colleagues hoping to settle a bet on who had the better Christmas knowledge, and we even had a few people come back twice to try and get stars they never got on their first run!
Before it was over, it actually managed to sneak into the "top 100 escape rooms of the year" on Escape the Review. When it ended, we expected to just get back to building regular escape rooms.
What we didn't expect, were emails in JUNE from people asking about whether it would return. At first, we didn't think so. But then more emails came in. More calls. The demand grew. It honestly wouldn't have taken much to get us to do it, so here we are!
Has anything changed? Oh yes. Because one team managed to get every star last year, we wanted to make sure NO TEAM would run out of things to do in the 30 minutes, so we add a whopping ten extra stars to the game. Some of our favourite puzzles return, others have been rewritten, while most have been replaced with completely new ones!
