FAQ
What is the maximum number of players allowed in a game? ▼
Due to health and safety restrictions, we can allow a maximum of 6 players into our games, with the exception of "THE JAIL" and "HAUNTED CIRCUS" which can take 7 players. However, we have 5 games, so our maximum capacity for an event would be 32 players.
Are there any age restrictions for the games? ▼
No, but players 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the game. We cannot accommodate games for groups entirely of players age 14 or younger. For games that have an actor, that age limit increases to 16.
Can I add extra players onto my game after I’ve booked? ▼
Yes, as long as it doesn't exceed the room's maximum capacity. Please email or call us to let us know if you are bringing additional players.
Can I reschedule? ▼
Reschedules are available up to 24 hours prior to your booking. You cannot reschedule for a Saturday. If you give no indication and fail to turn up for your game, you will be recorded as a "no-show" and no reschedule or refund will be given.
What is your refund policy? ▼
We are a live event game, which means we do not give refunds for the following reasons:
- You arrive too late for your game
- A team member can no longer participate
- If you or a team member are too scared to participate
- If you or a team member leave the game early
- If the team are denied entry or removed from the room due to disruptive behaviour
- If the team are denied entry or removed from the room because anyone has arrived under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Is it dark? ▼
Some of our games use the dark as part of the experience. If you have any queries, it is best to call or email us to learn more directly from one of our gamemasters.
Is it scary? ▼
Some of our games lean into themes that people might find scary. We also use live actors for certain games to increase the intensity of certain situations. If you have any queries, it is best to call or email us to learn more directly from one of our gamemasters. Please check the description of each game to learn more about it and whether it is appropriate for your team.
What are the accessibility options? ▼
We are technically not an accessible location, but we do have access to a lift that can bring you to the basement level that staff can control, but not the public. Please call us with any queries.
What time do I need to be there? ▼
You need to arrive at the branch and check in at least 10 minutes before your game. We cannot guarantee you will be allowed to play if you turn up later.
What happens if I’m late? ▼
If you are going to be late, please call us to let us know and staff will try to accommodate you, but we cannot guarantee you will be able to play due to bookings after you. If you arrive 10 minutes later than your booking time, you will be recorded as a "no-show" and will not be allowed to play and you will not be entitled to a refund. If a single team member is late, those who arrived on time will be allowed to play, but we cannot guarantee the late-arriving team member will be allowed to participate.
Is there parking nearby? ▼
Yes. There are several paid car parks nearby. Directly behind Merchant Square is one of two National Car Parks, with the other located at 68 Montrose Street. There is also a Q-Park at 37 Albion Street. The closest major car park outside the LEZ zone is at the Collegelands Development on Duke Street, about a 10 minute walk from the branch.
Where are you? ▼
We are located in the basement inside of Merchant Square. We do not have a door accessible from street level outside. You must enter the Merchant Square building to find our front door. The best entrance to the Square is the one at the corner of Candleriggs and Bell street. Entering through the Square here, will take you directly to our door.
Do you serve drinks? ▼
No. We do not allow food or drink on the premises. However, above us in Merchant Square there are several excellent venues for a post-game munch or a celebratory drink.
Do you host events? ▼
We would love to be a part of your upcoming event, however please be aware of restrictions. Give us a call or email to discuss.
Do you do discounts for corporate bookings? ▼
Yes, we do for groups of 13 or more players. Please call us for more information.
What should I wear? ▼
We recommend you wear comfortable and practical clothes.
I’ve played the old escape rooms in Merchant Square, are these the same? ▼
No. Nomad Escape is an entirely new company that has taken over. We have worked hard to bring you entirely new and unique experiences! For example, if you played "Alcatraz" at the old venue, you will absolutely be able to play "The Jail" as it will be a different experience with different puzzles.
Can the live actors hurt me? ▼
At certain points in the game, you may feel like you will get hurt. However, this is all in the spirit of the game and our actors are professionals who are actually looking out for you to ensure you get the best experience possible. They will never cross a line that results in a player being in any actual danger.
What if I hurt the actor? ▼
Our actors are valuable members of our staff and there to provide a service to you. If anyone in the team is abusive in any way to them, your game will immediately be terminated and the police will be called. We understand some people have a "fight or flight" response to being scared, but be aware we have a zero tolerance policy towards anyone who chooses to lash out in any way.
What does the “live experience” add to the escape room? ▼
The live experience version of some of our games means an actor will be a part of the experience. You may have to interact with the actor in order to progress your game or they will provide a higher level of immersion.
Are the live experience versions of certain games different to the core Escape Room game? ▼
The live experience version of games will feature different ways to interact with puzzles and the theme. The game itself is the same.
Can I have an actor in my game Monday - Thursday? ▼
Please contact us and we will try and make arrangements. We cannot guarantee it, but if it happens, there will be a premium added on.
What if I don't want an actor in my game Thursday - Sunday? ▼
That's totally fine, we are happy to remove the actor from the game on request, however, we still have to pay the actor for that hour and so the higher price will still be in effect.
What if I break something? ▼
You will be watched by a Gamemaster at all times and they will be able to see if a breakage is a genuine accident, or a deliberate act. If it is the former, then the Gamemaster may enter the room to remove the broken item or help the team if it is something important. If it is the latter, the Gamemaster will remove the team from the room.
What are the waivers for? ▼
Our waiver system is in place to give staff peace of mind that every player who comes in is aware and accepts the rules. They also give our staff full confidence to exercise their right to remove disruptive players who do not follow the rules.
